Another fantastic day yesterday thanks to the place money picked up by Lake Chini and Cheshire Rose, and another big-priced winner in Social Rhythm (advised at 14/1).

There will be no bets on Thursday.

Today’s bets:

3.35 - Salisbury - Directorship - 2 pts win. Available at 13/2 (General)
Marked himself down as a Colt with potential when finishing fourth in, what has turned out to be, a very decent Maiden at Newbury in October. For whatever reason he finished distressed on his reappearance in May but, given time to get over that experience, he confirmed that he had trained on by winning at Sandown last time out. Always travelling well he was only given a few gentle reminders before being ridden out hands and heels to win cosily, albeit by a narrow margin. He will need to improve on that to win on this handicap debut but he has plenty of physical scope for improvement and gives the impression there is much more to come. That win came on fast ground but a drop of rain wouldn't go amiss.

4.40 - Salisbury - Paul's Pet - 1 pt e/w. Available at 14/1 (Ladbrokes)
Royal Blush looks the one to beat on her run at Newbury on her handicap debut last time out but that race favoured those that raced up with the pace and her price of around doesn't appeal based on that one effort. At a much bigger price Paul's Pet could be better than his odds indicate. His form figures don't inspire confidence but he ran well over a mile at Windsor in June and wasn't disgraced given the way the race panned out over the same trip on the A/W at Kempton last time out. His running style gives the impression he will be better over today's trip and he is seven pounds lower in the handicap than he was at the start of this campaign. This is only his seventh race and he could be up to getting competitive at this level from his current lowly mark.

5.20 - Beverley - Mexican Bob - 1 pt e/w. Available at 12/1 (Coral and William Hill) 1st 10/1
Still a maiden on the flat after 12 starts but he has some placed form from higher marks than he runs from today and improved to be a decent Novice hurdler for Alan King. He probably didn't go on as expected over hurdles when he stepped into Listed/Graded company and he has since changed yards during a fifteen month absence. He returned on the flat for his new handler over ten furlongs at Newbury last month and ran well until tiring late on as though the race were needed. The step up to 12 furlongs on a stiff track is probably at the limits of his stamina but, if he does see it out, he could turn out to be on a decent mark. In form Jockey hangs around for two hours to take this mount in the last race on the card.

5.35 - Yarmouth - Navajo Nation - 4 pts win. Available at 4/1 (General) 2nd btn by a head :(
Improved in each of his Maiden races but must have wondered what was going on when he was plunged into a decent, very competitive Goodwood handicap run in poor visibility. Although he only finished in Midfield, beaten nearly twelve lengths, the effort deserves upgrading because he was one of only two that made any meaningful progress from the rear of the field. The 11 furlong trip was also his first foray beyond seven furlongs. The handicapper has been kind in dropping him four pounds in the weights for this ten furlong affair and the opposition are not of the caliber he faced at Goodwood. Both the yard and today's jockey have good strike rates at the track.

6.00 - Sandown - Gentle Guru - 0.5 pts e/w. Available at 33/1 (Bet 365 and Ladbrokes)

7.10 - Sandown - Sir Isaac - 2 pts win. Available at 11/2 (General) 1st 4/1 - 11/2 available early afternoon. :boss:
