A couple of disappointing runs from some selections yesterday, but all of that was forgotten as Tropical Duke, advised at 33/1 and well backed on course hung on at Redcar for a tremendous win, and a nice profit on the day.

Today’s bets:

5.30 - Wolverhampton - Snowberry Hill - 1 pt e/w. Available at 11/1 (Bet 365)

5.50 - Windsor - Silver Grey - 2 pts win. Available at 9/2 (Stan James) 2nd by a head
Considering she look disadvantaged by her draw the way the race panned out at Newmarket last time out she did well to finish as close to the winner as she did. She made up a lot of ground once she got herself organised coming out of the dip and today's flatter track may suit her better. The handicapper has dropped her two pounds for this second foray into Nursery company. The yard have a 0 from 22 record here in recent seasons and Silver Grey has to prove she acts on ground this soft. However the stable have been finding the odd winner amongst the few they have been sending out and Silver Grey is by a Sire who never minded the mud flying.

6.30 - Thirsk - Zennerman - 1 pt e/w. Available at 14/1 (General)
Zennnerman takes the eye in this Selling handicap. He hasn't been at his best in two races this season but he may have needed his reappearance and he went without the blinkers last time out. They are back on today and past performances suggest they will perk him up. He had form in better races than this last season and handles any ground. The booking of a jockey 4 from 20 for the yard in recent seasons is a positive move in a race that won't take much winning.

6.50 - Windsor - Wannabe King - 2 pts win. Available at 9/2 (Sportingbet) 1st 4/1
Clientele may be the one to beat butWannabe King, who is bred to be a miler, may be worth risking at a bigger price. He looks to be slowly improving this season and the first time cheekpieces could eke out a little bit more. He is by a Mare who comes from a family of prolific winners and it wasn't uncommon for headgear to be used on some of them on the odd occasion. Wannabe King has proven himself on both fast and slow ground and he is the only representative of a yard in good from at the track tonight. Jockey who has been on board for his last two outings turns up for his only booked ride at the meeting.

7.20 - Windsor - Pearley Wey - 1 pt e/w. Available at 12/1 (General)
This should be run at a fast gallop and could be set up for something coming from off the pace. Pearley Wey may be one of them , although his current form is open to conjecture. He hasn't been at his best in his two races this season but he may have been aimed at Goodwood, where he didn't get a run. He produced a high level of handicap form from around today's mark last season and he would give these plenty to think about if he produced anywhere near that. The stable are in form, send just the one to this track and the presence of Philip Robinson for his only booked ride at the meeting signals a sign of intent.

8.20 - Windsor - Balanderi - 1 pt e/w. Available at 16/1 (General)
