What does add-ons mean when for example a deal is said to be "£4m plus add-ons"?

It can be a load of different things. Add ons normally refer to what the players parent club will receive when the player reaches certain milestones e.g. If QPR get promoted this season his club might get another £x,000,000, or we'll give you an extra £x,000's after he's played 20/30/40 games, or we'll give you an extra £x,000's if he scores 20 goals this season etc.Originally posted by Yousef View PostWhat does add-ons mean when for example a deal is said to be "£4m plus add-ons"?
Normally deals with players are kept separate from the transfer costs but more and more clubs nowadays are wrapping the whole deal up which is why you are seeing highly inflated transfer fees. e.g. Remy cost us £8,000,000 but actually it's probably more like £19million over 4 years because of his salary, bonuses, relocation fees, signing on fee, loyalty/goals/appearance bonuses.
