  • Played their part: 1 Kenny

"Here at www.qpr.co.uk we take a look at the players who were involved in last season's successful fight against relegation …

    Paddy Kenny
    Appearances (all competitions): 35
    Goals: 0
    Assists: 1

After playing a starring role in QPR's promotion to the Premier League, Paddy Kenny was once again instrumental in what proved to be a successful campaign as Rangers avoided relegation in their first year back in the top-flight.

The 34 year-old only missed five league games all season - owing to a hip injury - and produced a series of important saves at key times throughout the campaign.

One of Kenny's most notable stops came at Loftus Road in March when Rangers hosted Arsenal. The Gunners went into the match on the back of seven straight wins in the Premier League, while QPR had suffered a disappointing loss at Sunderland the previous weekend.

Adel Taarabt gave QPR the lead before Theo Walcott levelled. As Arsenal searched for a winner, the in-form Robin van Persie broke clear of the Rangers defence on 60 minutes.

With only the keeper to beat and time to pick his spot, everyone waited for the Dutchman to score his 27th league goal of the season.

His well-struck effort was destined for the top corner before Kenny pulled off a stunning save to tip the ball over the bar. Had the Gunners taken the lead, it's unlikely they would have looked back. As it was, the game remained level and QPR went on to win the match."
