4.02pm: Our very own John Edwards has informed me that QPR have missed out on David Mendes:
'One QPR deal that won’t be going through .. sources in Holland claim that Loftus Road negotiators thought they had a deal agreed with Red Bull Salzburg for versatile midfielder David Mendes, only for the Austrian club to change their minds and decide against it.
'Mendes, 29, who can operate in defence or anywhere across midfield and has been capped seven times by Holland, would have been a useful addition to Mark Hughes’ squad.'
