Exactly. Hall - while he may be more of a "natural talent" - is injured 95% of the time and when he has played he's been pony anyway. I'll accept the argument that there might be better alternatives to Dan (although none readily spring to mind) but a unfavourable comparison to Hall is ridiculous.

All this chat re Shi ttu vs Hall, is the Woodgate option still hanging in there?
If so, NW can poss choose just one

would like to ask those going for st ledger.

hulse bossed him about earlier this season. now we know how u all love hulse.. i dont think shittu would be bossed by anybody like hulse. st ledger had his moment and for me he isn't as good as people make out hense why he is at preston.

The other issue with comparing Hall is that he is always injured whereas Danny will be able to play more games. Shittu played his best football when partnered with Carlise. Carlise got the best out of him but we don't have an intelligent leader in the ilk of carlise. If Woodgate can prove his fitness then he should be our no1 priority.
Agreed re Carlisle. IMHO wasn't as composed or organized without CC in the side.

I haven't a clue how Shittu has done at Millwall, and I don't pretend to have one either.

    But this lot do:

Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong... who knows?
But I DO know one thing... they are in a better position to judge his recent form than anyone on here.

Whether that view of him is good, or bad.

Shittu is fit and more so match fit, experienced and a decent enough squad buy considering that:

    1. Hall is hardly ever fit and never match fit
    2. You dont **** around with the best defence in the league so we are not buying to go straight into the team, we are buying for cover

Re the others, we need another option other than Taraabt, so routledge will give us that. Chimbonda has an opportunity to save his career, lets see if he takes it. Likewise Mcarthy has class and if his head is in the right place then he could be a furlong type of signing

The concern is the dressing influence of these characters and the fact they are all players on the way down

A poor signing Shittu would be, probably to appease that section of our support who are happy as long as they know a song to a players name. It would not surprise me that this is a signing which has been made to steer fans attention away from the fact that this may be a very poor transfer window for a team actively chasing automatic promotion. Is there any one else who is becoming concerned about how much input our manager is having on transfer targets? I have it down as 5 'targets' now who have their connections with a particular board member.

We need to be moving forward as a club on the pitch but this feels like 2 steps back. Surely we should be takling a gamble on a young lower divison centre half ready to make a step up instead of this player?

Only flaw in David McI's argument is that Danny playing is just as likely to have us nervous as happy. My worry is the nervous will overtake the happy pretty quick.

Oddly CB is one of the areas I am less worried. I know Warnock doesn't agree and clearly has been fuming at Kaspars and Matt lately but I think that;'s a bit harsh. I agree Hall is not best back up. But I'd use Ramage when fit (his best positiin is in the middle). I think I'd oprefer to wait and if we were in dire need (say one of top two take a serious knock) we go to the loan market

All of this is distracting from the main problem that needs fixing up front.

we wont spend on a CB.. and thats what it would take imo to get a better one than gorkks and connolly. shittu is free and likely to be cover for the pair. he has positives and negatives against hall. both offer different things. shittu will be available for more games than hall.

id like better than shittu but ive accepted we aint spending a dime on anybody this window. and having the cover of shittu and potentially chimbonda works for me.

You can see a pattern here with Millwall fans. Same as all fans on MBs.

While he was there he was good, and they rated him... as soon as it seems he's off elsewhere, it's "good riddance, he's sh*t anyway".

That's not taking into account Dannys passion and threat from set plays!
He served us well he served us very well before in a good team he can be a vital squad player!
Millwall fans seem happy with him in this division! And they aren't doing too bad
Rose tinted views based on ten or so good games in 2005. Have you seen Shittu try to actually run recently. It's not pretty. How many goals did Shittu get? How many has Hall already got?
