Love looking back on things like this.worked on white city fitting fire compartmentation doors in all the loft areas.still graffiti up there from the late 30,s .pictures of men with flat caps and roll ups drawn into the render.

That's awesome.

It seems like graffitti is something that's a pretty primal instinct in humans. Started off with cave paintings all the way up to tagging tube trains. A genetic need to draw on stuff, or write your name on something.

Batman Close was the last of the flats to be built, early 50's, was the site of an old ammonitions dump in the second war

It certainly looks like the layout of ellerslie school from what I remember of it.

No map yet, but it looks like the original Wood Lane station was built to serve the exhibition with an enclosed walkway over Wood Lane.

Those halls were pretty dilapidated when pulled down apparently, I doubt they would be protected now because exactly the same sort of halls from the same exhibition were only finally pulled down from behind shepherds bush station when the area was cleared to build westfield, prior to that they could clearly be seen when driving on the link road between shepherds bush green and the westway

My dad and his friends used the area as an adventure playground in the late 40's, reckons you could go from hall to hall for miles but you had to watch your step or you would dissapear through the rotton flooring

It pi sses me off to Deep, a great building like that just pulled down to build a modern sh itty pile of flats or whatever they wanna do and for who????? Gets right on my t its.

The planners need to realise the history they are destroying.
