Viking Spirit finished like a train yesterday to grab 2nd and return some place money, but Rosbay and Moonwalking both finished out of the frame oin 5th, so the day ended in a small loss.

Today’s bets:

2.10 - Chepstow - Great View - 2 pts e/w. Available at 9/1 (General)

Into the veteran stage at ten years old but he has shown enough over the past 12 months to be considered. He drops to this grade for the first time in a long while and his current mark is his lowest for over six years. He has been apprentice ridden in his last two outings and it may be no coincidence that his best run in three this season came under today's jockey on his reappearance at Bath. All three outings have been on first ground and, while he has winning form under such conditions, his last four career victories have been on good ground or softer. His last win came over this C/D from an eleven pound lower mark 13 months ago and a form revival this afternoon wouldn't come as a total surprise. Today's jockey hasn't had a winner in her last 17 rides but she boasts a 28% strike rate on this track in recent seasons.

4.10 - Chepstow - Oriental Girl - 1 pt win. Available at 10/1 (General) racing abandoned - rain
Dancing Storm has her conditions over a C/D on which she is a dual winner. However, although Oriental Girl was behind her at Salisbury last time out, she may be worth a small investment to turn the tables today. She saw a lot of daylight in that race and, although she travelled well into the latter stages, she had no more to give on the drive to the line. She wasn't far behind Dancing Storm, who had the run of the race, and she has run well on both previous occasions she has raced here. She first caught the eye on soft ground at Goodwood in May 2008 and hasn't had many chances with give underfoot since. The first time visor is an unknown but if it has a positive effect she is handicapped to go well, being four pounds below her winning mark.

4.40 - Chepstow - The Snatcher - 1 pt e/w. Available at 14/1 (General) racing abandoned - rain
The best event on a poor day's flat racing. Pertinent is an obvious potential blot on the handicap but, although open to plenty of improvement he doesn't appeal from a mark of 84 against seasoned handicappers. Millfield Dreams is always capable of going better than his price predicts and Jeninsky and Guilded Warrior come into the race on the back of very good efforts. However on this occasion a chance is given to The Snatcher at a decent looking price. His consistency under the right conditions means he gets little help from the handicapper but he is relatively lightly raced at today's trip and he will have no problems with the ground. He has only raced over seven furlongs twice in the past two seasons and he has gone very close on both occasions. Represents a powerful, in form Trainer/Jockey combination.

5.20 - Catterick - Hindford Oak Sioux - 1 pt e/w. Available at 20/1 (General)
