  • How effective is heckling and would it work for us?

Barca fans continuously whistled and booed all arsenal possession last night, each event building up to deafening crescendo's until they won the ball back. Should it be part of our support, must be quite intimidating?

Would be great to get all our fans on board in any way at all -- this way certainly seemed to work last night.

Very interested in the psychological aspect of football.

Thats why most teams win at home, and with some larger crowds even you visit as an away fan you can sense a goal is going to go in, merely based on the sheer volume the home fans can generate.

You will see players up their effort when feeling the atmosphere, likewise if an opponent is on the ball and gets heckled it must work in the reverse.

to intimidate other players can defo work but we can't even cheer our team. some clubs have a head start over others by the way they goad the oppesition. these clubs are normaly from poorer countries..ie greece-turkey-etc. newcastle on their day have 50'000 odd at home and teams still go there and win. one of the only mad set of fans from a small team are millwall and where has that got them.....we don't live in the right country for that sort of fanatical support-too many kids-women etc. barca is a family club but has 100'000 fans and a different culture(60 years of oppression helps).unless we can be the very first cub in england to create a ultra buzz then forget it imo

heckling is normally a home thing and like pete said it works. won't be no bad thing if we cheer every good pass we make on saturday, surely we can do this. but then again if we were keeping possession would it contradict any hoofball NW wanted to play?

This seems like somthing that would never work, but it could if the right people supported it.

With message boards and better communications between fans it should not be as hard as it used to to generate things like this. May be easier to do with away games first.

The trouble is people just say - "we don't do that kind of thing over here"...... but we could.

In other countries with ultras - the crowd is orchestrated, with megaphones, planned activities ...even DRUMS (hint).

It would take a fair bit of organising if the appetite is there (might not be) and a while to bed in...may even appear like a waste of time to start with.....but if it became part of our QPR culture it could be great.

Though half the fans at LR don't like noise.

I personally love the atmosphere you see overseas - even at very small clubs....I would love it if QPR could create something a little bit unique in England.

We would cDck it up everytime, and be booing our own players.

Old habits are hard to break!

As this is a very much an overseas thing, maybe our Dutch or Norwegian friends could start it when they visit LR, who knows it may catch on but it needs fans who are used to that type of thing to get it going I feel.

it's probably going to be very noisy saturday, so let's do our bit too for us, the team, and the club, and cheer possession.

I wonder if Neil Warnock will be doing his usual 'management from the touchline' or will he play it low key from the dugout. I don't see him as someone who will care about the heckling he will receive from the palace fans but should be interesting to see what he does.
