    ...why did we give Hughes 12 games?? Far too many. I'm no Briatore fan but he would have had him out of the place so much earlier. And how come the much brighter Hughes got it so, so wrong??? He wouldn't have lasted that long under the nasty but sharp Briatore.

        There is clearly a good manager there so not sure what went wrong. He did well at City, Blackburn and Stoke.

              The problem was not Hughes but the whole set-up with his agent etc. They were allowed to spend what they wanted, as the board felt they (Hughes and his agent) knew what they were doing. As a result they signed a load of prima donnas who were only interested in making money and his agent also made a lot of money in the process. Hughes and his agent have not been allowed to do this at other clubs.

                Too many changes that summer, meaning no solid foundations in place.
                The PR drive over the summer was a disaster as well. Sending the team to Malaysia to play conference standard teams was far from ideal preparation.
                Also made certain signings for all the wrong reasons.
