  • R’ behaviour at away games

I've been asked to post this message on behalf of the club.

Supporters reminder about their behaviour at away games…

The club is aware, and have received several complaints from our own supporters, regarding the conduct of a handful of QPR fans during our fixture at Southampton last weekend.

We are working closely with the relevant authorities to ascertain details of those who were involved in disorder or illegal activities and supporters who have brought the club into disrepute will be suitably punished.

As such, we would like to remind our supporters about their behaviour whilst following the club on its travels in the Premier League.

The club is proud of the atmosphere our supporters create at our away fixtures and by working together we can eradicate any discrimination, behaviour or illegal activities that have no place in football.

We are committed to confronting and eliminating discrimination, whether by reason of race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, age, ethnic and national origin, disability, nationality, religion or belief or gender reassignment.

Racial, homophobic or discriminatory abuse, chanting or harassment is strictly forbidden and will result in arrest and / or ejection from any Premier League ground, and in addition the club will impose a ban for one or more matches.

In the event you wish to report any discriminatory, behavioural or illegal activities at away fixtures, please e-mail jennyw@qpr.co.uk

We acknowledge that the vast majority of our supporters are extremely well behaved when following the club at away fixtures.

We are a proud family club and we appreciate your ongoing, loyal support.

There was also this very unfortunate incident at the Saints game as described by Clive on LFW:

"Not the nicest thing you'll ever see at the football. It happened because we finally got a bloody corner and took the sodding thing short. A total waste of an opportunity that got a few backs up, bit of abuse, bit of Redknapp slating, bit of booing. Presumably the guy sitting in front of us with his lad said something or booed or something - he'd been sitting quietly watching the game with his lad before that - because the guy in front stood up and absolutely went for him, screaming in his face, threatening him saying he should support the team or fck off and all of this. Very aggressive, horrible language, and totally over the top, flanked by some chinless #### in a purple jumper also piling into this guy. The poor kid was absolutely terrified and in floods of tears so a few QPR fans got involved telling the fcking gibbon he was out of order. He was either drunk or drugged or something, just completely lost it. Anyway, wrestled out by the police and absolutely deserved it. Purple jumper hero decided he didn't want to go out so decided he was going to stand and hug his girlfriend and cry as if he was the victim (you've got a real winner there love) then when it had all calmed down and he'd made sure the police had gone he kicked off again, yelling over his gf's head at everybody. So the dad and his lad moved out of the way to the end of the row but the kid was really shaken up and after the second Saints goal his dad took him home. He's really going to want to come back and watch QPR now isn't he?

In summary we have some fcking weapons following our club."

I don't consider people like those two described by Clive from LFW as 'my own'. The club is better off without them.

This was discussed on the latest QPR podcast. I think it's partly to do with the Drogba, Remy and Mourinho chants containing racist and homophobic overtones.

I've seen a lot of arguments caused by people standing-up at away games.

Am amazed that in this technological age our club can't ask and allocate tickets at the back to those who want to stand and put those who don't at the front.

                      Have to agree with this.

It would but then the club would be actively allowing fans to stand up when it is currently not allowed. There would be all sorts of fines and sanctions imposed if this was the case....

Personally I feel the unfortunate incident with the 6 year old kid being reduced to tears by a fellow 'grown up' R is more concerning. How are situations like that going to encourage our next generation of fans to support us?

True. Maybe separate those that want to "sing" and those that don't then?
