QPR U23s kicked off 2020 by contesting a 3-3 draw at Crystal Palace in Professional Development League 2 South.

Rangers led 2-0 at half-time but were pegged back before going 3-2 ahead, only for Palace to equalise again.

Paul Hall’s R’s went in front from the penalty spot after Charley Kendall was fouled. Mide Shodipo – who featured in the Emirates FA Cup for the first team 24 hours earlier – made no mistake from the spot.

Shodipo turned provider on 39 minutes when he laid the ball into the path Stephen Duke-McKenna, who tucked the ball home from a few yards out.

Palace pulled one back two minutes into the second period when goalkeeper Dillon Barnes couldn’t keep out Brandon Aveiro’s corner.

Kendall looked to have restored Rangers’ two-goal lead on the hour mark, only to be flagged offside, and Palace then levelled on 64 minutes. Barnes made a decent save from an Aveiro strike but John-Kymani Gordon was on hand to bury the rebound.

A minute later, QPR were back in front. Kendall hit the net from close range but the R’s could not hold on to their lead as Rob Street volleyed home from a TQ Addy cross.

Rangers’ U23s are next in action on Monday 13th January 2020 when they travel to Ipswich Town.

QPR U23s: Barnes, Drewe (Carlyle 86), Trialist, Gubbins, Domi, Duncan, Bansal-McNulty, Duke-McKenna, Shodipo, Dalling, Kendall.

Subs (not used): Dickinson, Frailing, Remy.
