            That Tommy Smith! WOW!

            But -

            ? Isn't he getting on a bit?
            Pair him with Mackie?
            Bring back Clint
            No legs?
Good ball from SWP - he must have fallen over after releasing it!

yes, and another Mark Hughes masterstroke was getting rid of Buzsaky too, in favour of the £8M 50K pw (alleged fee and wages) Granero!

Hughes had / still has a lot to answer for in my book. Only decent thing he did once Bolton had kept us up was to sign Ryan Nelsen.

Good player and I thought underrated.

If he was with us now would probably be played as a wing back!

They were great days - and we should have never sold him.

But. Even before Hughes, Warnock had made some pretty poor "rebound" signings on obscene dosh like SWP and Barton (he caused untold amounts of problems - despite putting in a shift most times).

So. Unfortunately, it all comes back to that crazy open checkbook policy when Uncle Tony first arrived on the scene..... although giving Old Pubehead one of those was like giving a monkey a machinegun........
