Agent Holloway, working in deep cover, has sacrificed his popularity in order to reposition QPR as a lowly, low-spending club in the public's mind. The plan was hatched by evil genius Sir Lesley Ferdinand and his sidekick Lee 'Who?' Hoos in order to save QPR from ruin.
The subtlety of this plan and Holloway's brilliance in carrying it out cannot be overstated. In order to pull this coup off, Holloway had to deliberately put the team out in formations that didn't quite work and play players out of position, yet all the while doing just enough to keep the team out of the relegation zone. Having achieved his goal (or very close, perhaps even the great Ollie's patience has worn thin), Holloway has reverted to 433 (presaging the holy 442 formation) and at last, the fans can see how clever the plan has been.
Expect next season to be one of joyous surprise as the youthful QPR team, against all odds, achieves 9th place in the league. Then, finally clear of FFP restrictions, Saint Fernandes the Martyr will open the cobwebbed coffers and in 2020, promotion will loom on the horizon. Hallelujah.
