If we need 5 wins to stay up the bottom 3 need 8 wins out of 16 remaining which is a stretch for all 3, maybe 1 could surprise us all. We've still got Bolton, Birmingham, Hull and Sunderland to play. Beat 3 of those and it will be enough.

Hope nobody tells Blackburn who went down with 51pts last year.

Peterbrough went down with was it 54 couple years back

Agree with majority we will stay up and probably pretty comfortably but we need retain a cushion as a few bad games and freak results elsewhere and the table closes very quickly. The difference between winning and losing at burton is perfect example of that

Looking at some of the dross at the bottom I think we might stay up with as little as 45 points this season.

34, so we now have 2 points more than last season. Three wins and we are safe.

Very rarely is survival achieved with 41 points. The average is usually around the 45-50 range, so no need to start being complacent about relegation as they did last season. Even more so given QPR's appalling away form.

If QPR can win the home games against Bolton & Sunderland that will help their cause and then perhaps we can feel a bit safer.

I wouldn't say we are improving given that he has supposedly got a better squad this season.

We may not get relegated and might even finish higher than last season, but there is no denying that much of what we have seen this season has been disappointing with far too many losses and not enough goals scored.

Despite what some might think and say, the football is not good to watch and the attendences have fallen as a result.

Some bizarre ignorance being displayed in this thread. Blackburn went down in 22nd place with 51 points last season. We finished 2 points above them.
At this stage (30 games) last season we had 34 points so we're slightly better off this year on 36 points. It's blindingly obvious we need more than 3 wins so I'm not relaxing.
My general recollection of last season was we went several games during the run in failing to win and only stayed up by dint of beating Forest very near the end to halt an alarming barren run and slide down the table.

Agree but we dont need to be thinking we need this or that especially ollie and the squad, should be looking at winning every game no matter what, a change of mentality.

That's right, the win against Forest was the penultimate match and came after another 6 game losing run.

Agree with you both and only hope that Holloway and his squad have indeed learnt lessons from last season.

It will be a big mistake if we think that 3 wins will ensure safety. Such attitude is a recipe for disaster, as last season is still fresh for everyone to recall. Surely we must aim to win as many games as we possibly can, and stop relaxing because the others are 10 points behind us. Another bad run and all of a sudden the pressure is on, the season will be nearing the end and there will be not many games left to recover.
