That's the theory behind the DoF set-up. Not sure it's working properly for us however. For starters, clearly there was a miscommunication somewhere during the last window, seeing as we put together a squad suited to 4-4-2 or 4-5-1, yet we're playing 3-5-2 every week.

I also have it on pretty good authority that Ravel Morrison's second stint was something that Tony and Les wanted but Ollie didn't. And we all know what happened there, he never got a kick.

The whole set-up only works if the DoF and the Manager are on the same wavelength.

But I want a new manager to get rid of some and bring in some. He's a new manager because change was needed. Why should a new manager have to work with exactly the same squad that was going nowhere? Warnock brought in Derry and Hill and the change was a revelation. Would any fan have expected a Derry or a Hill? That's a proper manager, not a DOF. What's the ethos of our club at the moment.....to lose? I posted on another thread that big clubs can justify a DOF when they have large squads to keep happy, international scouting networks, huge wage bills and branding rights but when they bring in a Mourinho, Guardiola, Conte etc. these guys bring in one or two big signings of their own to put their stamp on the team and change it to their way of playing.

Agreed, we create lots and upset teams but can't put the ball in the net. Mackie and Washington just don't score, Smith is one dimensional and more of an impact sub and Sylla always looks just off the game - it's hardly surprising we're struggling to score with this lot
