What we had with Acid House was ground breaking , it changed youth culture forever , except for the middle class punk thing in the 70s ,your generation was good for two tone and mod revival but thats about it ! you were just an inbetween thing that us young 80s Casuals were waiting to turn into ACID !
Middle class punk thing???? You cheeky ba5tard! Punk may have had middle class adherents (don't tell me the rave acid scene wasn't riddled with the middle classes because I know it was for a fact!), but it was proper working class culture along with ska and reggae. Try telling Mr John Lydon, who was sat directly behind me on Saturday night at the premiere of the new PiL film that punk was middle class. He'd deck you! We had fashion mate, sharp, street cool, incredible variety, what did you lot have? Baggy trousers, floppy hats and dippy t shirts FFS! I didn't defer to the 60s, I nodded to it - being as it represents the second greatest music era ever, after the 70s, then maybe the 50s, 40s, 30s and then, and only then come the 80s!

some great bands there Hubs, I was thinking of Mud, Sweet, Brotherhood of Man, Ronnie(sic) and Renalta, Peters and Lee. . .
I must away now, I can no longer tarry
This morning's tempest I have to cross
I must be guided without a stumble
Into the arms I love the most

I don't think of it in terms of best decades because for me 1965 to 1985 was without doubt THE greatest musical period of the last 100 years, in my humble opining - irrespective of social class and/or musical genre! :-) In fact I'd go as far as describing it as a Golden Age of music - which only come around very rarely and which I was fortunately extremely blessed to be growing up in. And NO, that is not just me being nostalgic! :-)
