Development of youth that can get into the first team is vital for a club our size. Glad to see things are starting to fall into place and credit to all involved.

Also nice to see Brentford's B team turned over on their own patch.

      Article in the DM today

      http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...g-academy.html

talking about Huddersfield thinking about ditching their academy because it wasn't producing the desired pipeline of players and the money could be better spent elsewhere. Also said Brentford ditched their academy in 2016 and was a model other clubs were keeping an eye on.

Ditched it to have a B team instead...

...who got d*cked on by our academy players 3-0

Only time will tell if Brentford can set a model that works, but for me, I'd rather have a solid youth set up like Southampton that produces players that will a) get into the first team (thus saving on transfer fees) and b) become a valuable asset for the club if you need to raise funds from sales to keep the club going.

They did talk about playing the same system at every level a few years back. Makes it easy to transition into the first XI as everyone already knows their role. The Spanish and Germans have been doing it for years. Good to see its starting to show some pay off.

Brentford have decided to cut the capacity of their new stadium to 17,500 stating that attendences do not matter that much as the real money is in TV in the Prem. Therefore money will be spent on team instead.
Nice message. In other words supporters team don't matter. As well as a youth team.

Looks like they have done away with league standings for the U23s but U18s still have a league competition.

Bolton are in a different league than us so it looks like a friendly.

But the table is not separated into north and south, you can see the south standings here:
