  • Manning at RB?

Maybe that would suit our system best? We have Luongo, Scowen and Borysiuk and Freeman as options as CMF and Manning would be ideal at RB for a pressing game, with his engine, speed, ballcontrol and competiveness. The same goes for Scowen who could shift position with Manning when needed. Offload Perch and keep Petrasso and Furlong as backup. We also have Onouha as possible RB if/when Caulker and Hall are back to their best. Then use the money for a quality FW.

Yeah I was thinking about this the other day. He strikes me as type of player that will adapt well and work hard to learn how to play there. Will certainly be an improvement going forward but in the air we would be weaker.

If we're saying Furlong is not good enough to play RB which is his specialist position why is manning up to the job when he is a midfielder

Manning is a midfielder in my book and that's where he should play unless it's an absolute emergency and there are no other options

But Manning wouldn't start in our 1st team but in my view is one of our better players and has looked very good at left wing back.

But it's just finding a way of fitting him into the team which is wrong. He's midfielder so he gets in their or sits on the bench until he gets the chance that's my view. Had enough of square pegs in round holes play players in their rightful position so they can master it

Manning at RB making same errors Furlong has (and he would as their both kids learning) will get the same flack why hang him out to dry!!! It's same way Ramsey exposed Furlong to the two in form wingers in prem

Always stick with a winning side imo, too many changes in the past has never helped us. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

This. And Manning, from what I've seen, is left sided.

Don't always need your "better players" to make the best team.

Good with his left and right foot and a better player than Perch. Versatile, smart and reads the game we'll. Seldom silly tackles. Would give us another dimension going forward. Right now seen as a MF but I believe he has the attributes to become an even better RB. Remember, Clive Wilson was a MF before he became one of our best LB. Worth a punt I believe.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it - problem is we all have seen that it is broken.... on numerous occasions. Do we have to witness it again? Perch is the weakest link and we can't afford that. Reading didn't test him, but that doesn't mean that he is our best choice. Manning is an option and so is Baptiste....and they are better ones.
