  • Smithies...

I've seen a lot of people saying Huddersfield have some sort of buy back clause for Smithies if they got promoted.
First, is this true? And second, would the fact that he signed a new 3 year deal with us not make that clause void?
I'm not saying they won't come back in for him, they may do. Just wondered about this clause that's all.

Be gutted if they did go back in for him and my name was Danny Ward......

.....I think he won't be going back to Huddersfield, clause or not.

They won't sign him back. They'll take that Ward on loan again looks decent

Could it actually be that we can keep him, no....?

Don't think they've got a buy back clause. Think it's the usuall case of putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5.

I guess when Smithies joined from Huddersfield, the chances of them thinking there was the remotest possibility of promotion would be slim to say the least.

Bit like saying Charlie Austin had one when he signed for Southampton.

I wonder who on earth thinks this crap up.

would it be fair to stand in his way if they did come in , no such thing as loyalty in football today

Dont think it would be tbh, argueably he kept us up last season and i'm sure he'd jump at the chance to play in the prem especially for hud rather than a crap championship side. Only a matter of time imo hopefully we get good money for him

When a player wants to go this statement doesn't exist.

                  2 scenarios:

                  1. Huddersfield / A prem team pay a great sum of cash to buy him.
                  2. A team offer cash, we decline but the player wants out.

In reality Ginge, what does a contract mean in the world of football? Nothing. Money talks.

If he goes - fair play and we've got 2 other decent keepers so the money goes on outfield players

                        If he stays - great

Everton reputed to have put in a £30m bid for Sunderland stopper Pickford. Must have put a few million on Smithies transfer fee surely
I must away now, I can no longer tarry

They currently have a brilliant keeper that was the difference in them getting promoted so doubt smithies would go as a number 2 although it is his club
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!
