To be fair mate at the time we probably needed him more than he needed us. There would have been plenty of takers for him

Of course. There wasn't one fan that wanted Austin to be sold 12/18months before end of his contract but that's business, and in hindsight a poor decision.

When we failed to sell Austin Phillips Fer Caulker Sandro we had the best team in the whole division

            We were promotion favourites

What a total fark up after that window.

We took a gamble on keeping hold of Austin hoping he could fire us back up. The gamble we took didn't pay off so we cut our losses in the January window. Hindsight is great, but at the time I recall pretty much all of us being over the moon we kept him and took the gamble.
Yes we did, but it was a shame that a Youth team coach was appointed to run the 1st team.

The club never recovered from not replacing Redknapp with a proper manager.

Now 10 mill for an injury prone striker that had a good half season!

£15m he is going for mate. Madness for a fella who has never kicked a ball in the PL, and has had 2 ACL injuries.

And to think when we slapped a £15m price tag on Charlie after he bagged 18 PL goals for us in a season, we were told it was too much
