This summer he has a year left on his contract so he can afford to wait. Why go to a club which won't necessarily get promoted?

Why have a relegation on your CV?

Lots of reports now that Ted has splashed the news that he should go for 4m

          How much....

          How much is Smithies worth?

I read that he only has 18 months on his contract left and thats another reason the cub will consider selling him if he doesn't sign a new deal. If thats the case and a club really wants to sign him January while we are still in a scrap surely we inflate the rate to around 7-8 mill.

If no one bites then surely with a year left on his contract come the summer we could still warrant 4-5 mill for Smithies easily? AM i right in thinking that Smithies only has 18 months left on his deal?

To us at the moment priceless, he's kept us in so many games, made a couple of gaffs but has been outstanding, and the reason our goal diff isn't -40,and would be my POTY if he didn't play another game

I've read a couple of times recently that Villa are preparing an offer of £4m for Smithies.

Trouble is the clubs with money aren't usually falling over themselves to sign a GK in January and he's the sort of player that a Premier League club would sign as second or third GK as an investment for the future. Be surprised if he went in this window

                    £4-5m is a realistic price.

I'd rather we tried to get him to sign an extension on his contract.

                        OR

Would you twist by doing a straight swap with Smithies (who imo, by far is our best/consistent/promising young player) for a proven goal scorer? And risking bringing in the wrong type to replace Smithies as well as have faith in Ingram/lumley.
What price a settled back four with Smithies in goal.........priceless,got to keep him

Hull signed david marshall for what ... 5m plus add ons and hes 31??? Smithies is easily worth 6m imo and if we sold him for less we'd have been ripped off. Doesn't matter that we only spent 2m to sign him, hes one of the best keepers in the country atm

Nope, like Ingram but Smithies could be the difference between staying up or not. Worth far more to us in the starting 11 unless youre talking 20 million, which ain't happening.

£6m is what they pay for top 10 Premier League keeper. Smithies not worth that much.
