He was at Real Madrid at the time. He did not want to leave such a big club half way through the season to join a relegation certainties.

The time to have made a serious move for PC was well pre Olly.

But was he really the 'dream manager' pre CR? Would even TF have started bigging up someone that much until the deal was sealed? Also PC was clearly prepared to manager in this division..... the sequence of events doesn't really add up.......

        Dream on.
I would be delighted if he succeeds but in truth are more likely to get relegated than promotion under Ollie.

Like a few others on here, I was hoping Warnock would get the job on a longer basis last season, but was disappointed when JFH got the job instead.

I'm pretty sure he did, wasn't he first or second target (Tim Sherwood the other)?

So now Ollie does well if he keeps us in this division? Certainly hope so as we are 19th in the table and 21st in the form table. Maybe your epic banter mission was a little bit premature?

It was reported at the time that we interviewed him. If he felt that way, why even bother coming to an interview. Of course it's possible that he turned us down after the interview but unlikely, he knew exactly what he was being interviewed for and the situation at the club. It's far more likely that for unfathomable reasons, we preferred Ollie to him. Anyway he did leave a big club for a club about the same size as ours (in terms of gates) that everyone at the time saw as relegation certainties, so that situation didn't seem to worry him.

Not really a valid comparison Pinky, since Clement is relatively new to the managerial game. You could equally ask what has David Wagner won as a manager, but he's doing a bloody good job at Huddersfield.

Then again he hasn't got the Millwall thing on his CV ;) If he keeps the Swans in the EPL that would be a pretty remarkable achievement. Olly's EPL record was simple: straight up, straight back down.

His appointment here would be far more emotionally charged than the Olly one, and it is possible that he wasn't ready for that kind of baggage at this point. if he did turn us down that might have been a factor. In addition to the obvious drawbacks.....
