Joke! Smithies is so much better. Just shows you've got no chance if you're not in the premiership

Tom Heaton was in the squad while Burmley were in the championship?

Would be an absolute farce if he gets a game over Heaton.

He is the third choice goalkeeper and was called up at the last minute to replace Fraser Forster who is injured. There is not much chance he will actually play.

Surely what's more worrying is that 2 months on from a shocking performance at the euros, where we needed our senior players like Rooney and hart to step up, both will be in the team tonight.

Hart should never pull on an England shirt again.
2011-2013, 2 seasons in the Premiership, 76 games, 14 wins........two years of my life I'll never get back!!

2013/2014 mediocrity topped off with a win at Wembley....

2014/2015 was pretty much the same as 2011-2013.....

                          2015/2016, average at best.....

                          2016/2017, same old, same old....

                          2017/2018, aim low, avoid disappointment!

Its the hope that kills you!

Never an England player in a million years. Just goes to show how far a decent reputation will get you in football these days.

McCarthy seems to be one of those players that has the reputation for having "huge potential" and being "a future England international". In reality, anyone who's seen him play more than a handful of time will tell you that's just nonsense.

Not the first time it's happened though, remember Richard Wright & Scott Carson? They were both dog sh*t but managed to get a few England caps in their early careers.

Good enough for England but not good enough for us? Well he didn't cover himself with glory while with us, but as someone says it's all about opinions, which sadly some people on this site don't get, other than their own, Never going to get a game though
