    • Junior Hoilett plays 81 minutes of Canada's 1-0 win against Honduras
    • Winger sets up winning goal in the 38th minute
    • Hoilett's first appearance for Canada on home soil

QPR winger Junior Hoilett set-up the winner in Canada’s 2018 World Cup qualification victory against Honduras in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The R’s wide man provided the cross for Cyle Larin’s 38th minute winner as the Canucks secured all three points.

Hoilett, making only his second start for Canada since declaring his allegiance to them last month, played 81 minutes in Vancouver before eventually making way for Tesho Akindele.

Not before however his excellent one-two with Atiba Hutchinson saw his cross find both Will Johnson and Larin in the area with the former heading the ball against the latter to seal victory.

Hoilett heads to El Salvador next on Wednesday for their second qualifier, kick-off 1:30am GMT.

He had an OK game. He was hacked down more times than I could count, the CONCAF officials were by far the worse I have seen and allowed Honduras to get away with some dangerous tackles. The cross he provided was sublime albeit the finish was bundled in.

That was my exact thought when he crossed it followed by why can't he do that for us on a more regular basis

Controversial I know but if I had to chose between him or Phillips to get the best out of, I would go with Hoilett, I just believe he has more to his game, if the talent can be accessed?

The talent is there without a doubt, we've all seen it.

Consistency seems to be his problem.

His performance against Preston was a definite improvement, let's hope he keeps it up.

Ran out of steam after a while against PNE but I think these call ups and performances may bring the best out of him for us. Someone who has ambitions to keep their place internationally will perform better in general.
