  • New era....

Are hopeful Championship teams spending more (or at least attempting to) than 'lower-end' Prem teams on transfers? Never seen the likes of it before.

Is this a new era or a one-off season because of the new TV deal?

Teams are taking punt and having a go as they know potentially spending 10-20 mill could secure 100 mill.

Will continue imo as more investors see value for money in buying championship clubs and building them up and then getting the rewards. Would not want to get stuck in this league for more than two years and ideally straight back up this year as its getting stronger and stronger.

Especially if they're in a prime location like W12? Wouldn't underestimate the power of the £ compared to the Euro at the mo, as well as the huge Prem money potentially on offer. We're talking about big business men after all. The bubble will have to burst eventually?

Could be costly in the long run if they don't go up though.

Indeed, also this idea that there is big money to be made in the Premiership is way overstated. We have just been in the Premiership and have debts of £180m. Our debts in the Championship in the old days were chicken feed by comparison. Anything you make in TV money etc just goes on crazy wages/ transfer fees. Only way you can make money in the Prem is to sell the club for more to some even bigger mug.

Well if we where to get promoted with this squad, add no more than 2/3 (if we got promoted), I believe in our first season back, we could put a major dent in that debt.
            Kept the faith!
