I had a walk round the stadium before the game and the amount I saw was astonishing.
Liverpool have gone like man Utd and priced the locals out, when we charged £4 a seat back in the day liverpool were charging £2 as it was a working class city and the club looked after the locals, it was even a fiver for a cheeseburger from the van opposite the kop end and this is in full view of streets of derelict housing and even a derelict pub, this is Liverpool for gods sake not london. The club has become a money monster like man Utd and I'd guess over 70% of people in the ground are not from Liverpool or anywhere near it and 10% are not from the uk, they charge what they like as people will pay it. Liverpool is still a working class city and you only have to go a short distance from city centre to find rows of derelict housing and extreme poverty, shankley would turn in his grave if he could see what has become of his great club.

What was the copper with the riot stick all about ? Patrolled the away end like a nazi in a concentration camp, what did he think we was going to do, charge the home fans ? I forgot the club is doing a good job of that.

I don't disagree with the commercialisation of football today but with regards to the derelict houses around the ground, I believe they are empty because the club have bought them to knock down to expand the ground.

I think your right about the ones at the back of the new main stand being constructed (how big did that look) but there was derelict properties at back of kop end and streets beyond and also the 20 minute walk to Kirkdale Station took in a few sorry sights both human and property wise, I've never seen so many derelict pubs.

As soon as you come out of Kirkdale there is a burnt out boozer and it's all down hill from there on the walk to the ground. I think the general area has improved in the last 20 years but is still awful.

I also found it so annoying how many tourist's were at the ground, mostly Asian but that doesn't matter, and this is why there is no atmosphere at the ground any more. I have never been to any game where I have seen so many people with those ####ing half and half scarf's. Sat just in front of me where tourists with a crown paint shirt on taking photos and this in the away end.

being an asian man myself, there some of the other asian football fans out there are in a real sorry state! and im talking about a few middle aged men in our support! taking pictures and selfies all throughout the game. i think we should be careful in how we generalize 1 group, such as saying "those asians" or whatever. but some really make me cringe and shudder.
people can see my profile picture on my twitter below and have seen me home and away pretty much every weekend, but these guys were shocking!

its the way "modern football" is moving in, and its a fking shame. the old school nature of our club and the proper football feel of Loftus Rd is what drew me to qpr years ago, but the comments on this thread (expensive food, tickets, etc) will slowly creep into every club.

thats why the lower leagues are where you find real fans , i know so many chelsea fans that went 25 years ago that can't afford it now . they can only go to cup games as they're cheaper. where i live in wandsworth i see so many kids in chelsea and arsenal tops that have never seen their team play live . clubs charge what they want in the PL because they know they can sell them . scandinavians love PL football and fly over every weekend . clubs don't care about loyalty just money . sadly the top end of football is no longer for the working class at many stadiums

Here in Kuwait many people are surprised that I support QPR. I always tell them it is a love story you will never understand. Many tell me to convert to other clubs. They will never understand it lol and as you said many of them never travelled to attend games.
                QPR fan since1987

strange, i say the exact same thing. almost word for word.

in fact, i feel sorry for my mates who support the big 4/big 5, as the soul of those clubs are basically gone. i tell them that they should convert to QPR.

I would throw anyone out of a ground that takes a picture at anytime, there's no need for it. There was a couple of Asian R's fans in the away end as well with older QPR scarves on, no 50-50.

So did you not take a picture when we were at Wembley?

Nope afraid I didn't, maybe a Wembley final I could allow. It's just you watch something like Liverpool/Newcastle and every time Gerrard takes a corner all the phones are out.

Couldn't believe it on Saturday when 4 Far Eastern fans joined the little queue to get in behind me decked out in LFC shirts, scarves, hats, bags... the lot!!!
A steward asked to check their tickets, I think he assumed they were in wrong queue but blow me their tickets were for our end.
Fair play to steward he explained it was the away end and told them to go away and remove/hide all their colours or they wouldn't get in. I saw them slink off and assume they came back later "under cover" but didn't clock them in the ground.
Love to know where they got their tickets.
