Well of it had kept us up then yes but there are no certaintys. So no too risky if we still went down best to spend a bit to rebuild with new mmanager next season.

Yes, but at the right times & on the right players.

Not as easy as just a yes or no.

When he he took over- 100% yes, of course!!.. anyone who says otherwise is talking nonsense!! We'd just spent 15 long years trying to get back into the Premiership and we'd 'finally' done it!!!

Obviously as the signings/season went on it was crystal clear it was the wrong thing to do, 'but at the time'....

The question was when TF first came in, did we want him to spend big to keep us up.
Sorry but anyone who votes no is just plain lying.

I dont think most people who voted were aware of that. The OP seems to have been amended

Of course spending is somewhat necessary, particularly if you have just been promoted to the prem but it would have been nice for TF to have had a plan/policy on the sort of players we should be buying instead of just throwing around a blank cheque book and then realising its not feasible after 3 years.

Yes - on decent players, which in the end they didnt turn out to be!

                  That's fair enough.

Well then it's a clear yes. Unfortunately we threw money at the wrong players though.

Problem is if you spend another 20-30mill and still get relegated. Then what do u do? How do you get rid of these players? What happens if you dont get promotion back to the Premier League? FFP?

                      Too risky.
They got rid of Samba and loaned out Remy, so who's to say they couldn't do it again.
Yes, imo they should have sacked Redkrapp early in January and given the new manger (Not Ramsey) money to spend.
It would have been a gamble but one worth taking given the sums at stake for staying up.

As for when TF bought the club, spending was necessary but a better thought out plan would have helped.

I think regardless of the jan transfer window...we all knew Remy would go...and for whatever reason we didn't have any players lined up...Charlie has had a fantastic season, but if only we hadn't had to rely on him so much...I also feel we haven't used Vargas correctly...which is also very baffling..!!!!

It went wrong because Flavio & Bernie sold the club with a week left in the transfer window. I think that window hurt us the most.

Admittedly that wasn't a great start but TF & his mates have done themselves no favours since then. Our scouting network is nonexistent and we've thrown money recklessly at flavour of the big names and flavour of the month figures like Redknapp, Samba, Park, Caulker, Rio, Mutch, Zamora etc.

Now we're back at square one. We need to spend again but there's nothing that suggests we've learnt from our mistakes.

The result of TF not spending in January is relegation pure and simple
