  • Team for next season assuming we get relegated?

    -------------Green-------------
    Naughton--Nelsen--Hill--Buttner
    Knokaert--Diakite-Faurlin--Hoilett
    ---------Austin-Campbell------

Subs: Cerny, Onuoha, Powell, Zamora, Derry

Harry needs to get rid of a lot of the squad including the overpaid past-it players e.g. Bosingwa, Cisse, SWP, Johnson, Dyer...
Also sell the players that we have no chance of keeping: Granero, Taarabt, Cesar, Traore, Mbia, Mackie.
Bring in some young talent: Austin, Knokaert (The next Taarabt), Naughton, Nick Powell (loan), and Buttner (loan - assuming United get Baines)

I don't think anyone would want to buy Hoilett, he's been fat and useless so far, so stick him in the team. I reckon we'll somehow hold onto Diakite and Faurlin in the summer. Nelsen and Hill we'll be able to keep easily, and they would be incredible together in the Championship. Campbell should be reinstated into the team and play up front alongside Austin.
We'll be back up in no time!

Why, in your words, would we have no chance of keeping mackie?

I reckon he could do a good job at the Mid table/lower end of the Premier League, Probably at Norwich since they've shown the most interest in him recently, along with Fulham. Will get slated for this but he's too good to be in the Championship, especially when played as a striker.

Massively disagree with that. Punching above his weight in terms of talent in the Premier League.

That's one hell of a team Hitman! Do you reckon we'll keep hold of Mbia and Tarbs though? Phillips would be an immense signing for us.

              The Mackie debate goes on!
He hasn't got much ability but he knows where the goal is and is a nightmare for defenders when he's pressuring them. He'd do well at somewhere like Norwich, he's like a slimmer and faster version of Holt imo!

am sure philips is dooable. may have to throw in dj as some part of a deal though.

am sure mbia will stay, tarrabt though not so sure he knows what he is doing each day he wakes up.

here is hoping though nik, that team may even keep us up this season! if we were to assemble those players. and best of all, no more 60k wages.

Pressurising the defender is all well and good, its usually the lack of end product he produces after winning the ball that concerns me. Head down, into the corner or out of play.

spot on, cannot cross, cannot look up and make a pass. loads of heart but that only gets you so far in the prem league.

the whole problem is lack of supply in our team and mackie on the right wing is one of the biggest faliure when it comes to supplying crosses from that position.

nice guy who genuinly cares but just not good enough.

That's usually out on the wing though, when he's in a strikers position he gets into good areas to be on a receiving end of a cross or through ball. All of his goals last season came when he was in a more central position as opposed to out wide, and this season he's scored twice playing up front in the 2 or 3 games he's played as a striker which is not bad!

100% , No where near Premier League quality some seem to believe he is.
