Does not stop him humping tv`s and computers in their two year old car though and her selling them at car boot sales etc

In fact they have a cracking life what with not paying any rent or council tax and despite just having the council paint their house inside and out just after getting a spanking new kitcken and bathroom to update the old ones they are now getting new insulation incase they get a little nippy this winter

Not the case in the summer months for them though as when I return home from a hard days graft they are usually to be found sunbathing in the garden

Oh and before anyone gets their knickers in a twist they are both white English and just the kind of people New Labour courted so closely as they could always rely on theirs and thousands like them for their votes as long as the state looked after them
I was with you until that bit.

The welfare state has existed for 60 years, and seen many changes of government. Systemic abuse like the examples you give pre-date New Labour, as well you know. Don't know how old you are but people used to complain about welfare being a "lifestyle choice" when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, and for three quarters of that period we had a Tory government. As for abuse of the disability living allowance this non-means tested benefit was introduced by the Conservative administration in 1992. Its predecessor (can't recall what it was called now) was hugely promoted by Thatcher as it allowed them to 'reassign' the unemployed, thus taking them out of the jobless figures. Unfortunately it has now become a permanent meal ticket.

    Hope that helps.

While i completely agree with the point that youre trying to make Nobby, I disagree about the fact that KP, Trott, Prior, Strauss et al are accepted due to the fact that they are white. The point that they are South african born is always mentioned by the media, which is weird considering newspaper articles about boris johnson dont refer to him a "american born" politican. The cricketers in question are often singled out as possessing a different mentality, style etc due to the fact that they are born abroad (even though strauss moved here when he was 4 i think, and prior when he was 7?). Many supporters even make it clear that they do not feel that these players are not "one of them," Ive witnessed england supporters clap when trott gets bowled out for example. Whereas anyone one i have spoken to about Mo has fully embraced him, all you have to do is listen to how he holds himself to see that hes british (starting his statement with "listen mate" says it all really). Ive always maintained that if a dog is born in barn that doesnt make it a horse, some peole are just ignorant Im afraid.

What boggles my mind is the fact that around where I live (Holloway) all the unemployed single mums feed themselves & their kids entirely on takeaways. Every day.

Even if the takeways are cheap , that must still cost a fortune. But none of them can be arsed to cook.

I was a cynic about the corporate olympics, and once you've waded through the hype and bluster there are questions which need to be asked by bodies like the IOC (and dear old FIFA) of themselves. But I was screaming for Mo, the fact that he has a Somali background made it even better because that in itself is a powerful statement about the way we are now, a vision of how things could work in a new Britain...

I love it when people get so het up about immigration. Immigration stemmed from colonial expansion, in both classical times and 18th century Britain. You reap what you sow, and guess what - it might just be a wonderful thing. You can not put the clock back so get used to it and just maybe this could be a rainbow nation that works. That was what I got from it.

yes happens every time labour are in power...the labour treasury minister left a note for the incoming coalition minister saying "there is no money left"...that is too tragic to be funny
cos now we got years of sh*t to come, just likeevery other time....btw we went into major debt, lost the empire, lost the pound as the international currency due to the war,,
shame our forces couldnt hold dunkirk....maybe the 1930's labour policy of unilateral disarmament whilst germany was building forces had something to do with that.

now the needy have to pay , because the undeserving took the dough, given away by those ever so social labour tw*ts
