From our owners POV, this is a major signing. Park Ji Sung is huge in Asia, he is their David Beckham. Especially considering the fact we have a tour coming up their, the revenue Park will bring in to our club is enormous. Not just imemdiantly, ie shirt sales, the tour, but also in the longer term. We will have so many fans over in Asia now following us solely on the fact he is playing for us.
Not just that though, but IMO he is a top top player on the pitch as well. Played in some huge games for Utd over the years and Fergie has come out and said what a top and reliable pro he is on more than 1 occasion.

It's a huge marketing opportunity to get us in front of a potentially massive new fanbase. I don't see any issue with over-egging it. We'd be fools not to hype it up.
I'm quite surprised they've done it so late though considering it nearly midnight in Korea now. Surely early as possible would have made more sense for the Asia market?

we're trying to break into a global market, particularly the Asian market in this case. If you want to make impact and draw attention, you dont do things on the quiet. The PR team at LR have done a top job of promoting this signing and it seems haev achieved the aim of attracting world wide press. To me, it all seems like a success.
Oh and we've signed Park FFS, who would have thought that could ever happen this time last year??!

As posted on another thread, people seem to be missing the point. This press conference was not really for our benefit, but for the large contingent of Asian reporters asembled for the event. They will lap it up and the QPR name / brand will be in the papers and media outlets over there. PArk is their most succesful player, so is big news.
