When southamptons new stadium opened I think they were premiership and they averaged about 30k to 31k in those years, when they got relegated to championship they averaged 17k to 23k, league 1 years they went to 20k to 22k and last years promotion season saw 26k.
To me this says southampton fans like success more than a new stadium. Concern I have is that in our most positive season for a generation we saw an average of about 17k, however we plan to go to 35k capacity in say 5 years or whenever the stadium is built. One of the ways we can get that is being successful on the pitch but how successful will we have to be to double our attendances and be similar to villa, everton and spurs in attendances.
Unless we buy the likes of RVP (that will sell tickets) then I cannot see our current fan base greatly increasing unless the
club try's to find a new fanbase.
what a shat hole the Dell was,was like bits of odd stadia thrown together

I think a new stadium is the way forward, however I believe all this talk and possible plans are too early. Act in haste, repent in leisure comes to mind. Clearly our owners are great blokes but football can carry people away and you get surrounded by people with self interests.
We just dodged relegation, we need to cement our place in the premiership. Our signings to date and those we have been linked to aren't those of a club seeking a top half finish let alone a european place.
I think the board have the best intentions but just think, see how we are in two seasons when the training facilities are in place and if all good then start planning for a new ground. We commit ourselves now and go down next season which isn't inconceivable then next summer the talk on these forums won't be about the wonders of a retractable roof.
Only last summer posters were bemoaning the mittals for not buying out Tango and Cash, now posters think they are going to fund the stadium.
The 2013/14 premiership season has the new tv deal money and I think it's that year when plans for a new stadium should be considered as the new cash is immense I think the lowest premiership club gets the same amount that city got for winning the title this season.
QPR will reveal plans for a new 35,000-seater stadium within weeks as they evaluate potential sites, the Telegraph understands

It's my take on it but I agree Bircham's interview did kinda say the top two were when prompted by the interviewer to be white city and "that dairy" as he put it but he then says staying in west London. Just don't think the club would put all it's eggs in one basket and have all proposed sites in one borough, for bargaining tactics throwing in sites in other boroughs might allow them to get a better deal.
Forget about the stadium lads,.......it'll never happen, according to this fella, they've been there and tried and if they can't do it neither will we, thank god someone's informed us, save Tony alot of money!
Let's be honest, they are trying to do something we tried to do a few years ago and it won't come off. They are going to announce they are are world wide brand, sign Park on Monday as a statement, maybe try and get a few tourists to buy season tickets, look at every site possible in West London, have some very s****y plans drawn up with bridges, retractable roofs etc then..
Come back down to earth with a massive bump as prices spiral over the £100 million quid mark. At the end of it, they will most possibly share with Brentford, revamp the Lofterdrome and do things steadily like we have for 10 years if they've not gone bust before that.
None of us can make a call on this because we don't know the key financial details. I'm more concerned about those than whether we go to the Beeb or Unigate. However, I am absolutely certain this would not be happening without Mittal finance. All other things being equal, that's good for us but someone, somewhere is going to be financially exposed for a while and I would like to know exactly who that someone is - and how it might effect our dealings in the market. The Arsenal move is a cautionary tale, and yet at the time everyone was saying that it secured their future. A compromised future.
The Southampton thing is not relevant because Saints don't have EPL competition on their doorstep. Plus attendences make up a smaller proportion of top tier income streams than at any time in history. Having said all that, building a decent size venue so close to the middle of London in the heart of R's territory is a massive opportunity, especially with the transport development that's going on down the road. It's just that an awful lot of boxes need ticking first....
No time to think......Quick.... Quick get on the Chopper...do it ....do it .....Get on the Chopper ..You Ugly Mother F*ucker..I`ll be bac.......QPR have done What!!!!!!..KIn ELL
I just hope they build a replica of Loftus Road ..just bigger and with more toilets and bars where fans can mix before and after games and a Stadium with no restricted views.and be as close to the pitch as we are now....not to much to ask for is it ?
