Being finnicky: he has just turned 34. And how do you know his knees are shot? He played plenty of games fine last year.
IMO he would make a great signing, Faurlin & Diakite would learn plenty off him and he has been there and done it, would be great for the team. he wouldnt obviously play every game but a player like him is a big game player.
Age is nothing these days; look at Scholesy for example, and he's 4 years older than Riquelme.

He's talking about playing for that lot not football in general
"I can't play at half (steam)," Riquelme added before saying he would decide soon if he would continue his career at another club."
Its a nightmare playing over there as they expect so much of him all the time and it sounds like its just done his head in. Also worth bearing in mind this was just after he lost the cup playing for his club in the final.
the only other International who actually plays in Argentina is a right wing back called Mercado. Also in our price range.

There has been no official response from the club as yet, but the glance Boca's president Daniel Angelici gave Riquelme as he addressed the media suggested anger or irritation rather than sympathy for a parting legend. Riquelme has always been a divisive figure, beloved of the fans but not necessarily coaches or team-mates. When Martin Palermo retired last year he insisted it was not because his creaking body had at last had enough, but because he could no longer allow his animosity towards Riquelme to unsettle the club.
Big fan of boca and been following riquelme for the last 12years. Afraid that his days at top level footie are numbered. Would bet that there is bigger chance that we are signing Messi than Roman.
