Thread: who was the greatest ever striker to play for qpr

  1. Default

The whole exercise is subjective. For example, Stan Bowles was, in my opinion, the greatest player to wear the shirt. Others would disagree and say Rodney Marsh. I never saw him play so couldn't comment. Still, others would say Les Ferdinand because they've never seen the other two.

One thing is clear. We've had some ****** good strikers over the years, and some right rubbish.

    Default my reasons

my reasons for saying bedford and ferdinand are

les ferdinand was just so superfit possibley the fittest ever player to play for qpr

bedford was so tough,i think brian was either 5ft 10 ins or 5ft 11 ins tall but he could get stitches in a head wound at half time then come out in the second half with stitches under a bandage and still compete with center halfs for those headers

im sure in one game he spit the stitches but still refused to come off,he was so tough

strikers need to be very tough and very fit

frank clark was another who was as tough as they come playing the traditional striker role

I started watching Rangers in '76 so caught a glimpse of the Stan Bowles/Don Givens era but can't recall too much about them. We all know Stanley was a legend though. Suprised no one has mentioned Rodney Marsh as I will always remember a slogan on the wall 'Don't sell Rodney'!

However, the man that jumps straight to the front of my mind was Les Ferdinand, it was his strength, determination and power that I admired so much. He simply was a joy to watch. He didn;t get the England recognition and Cap's he deserved.

    Default well

well we cant leave this thread without talking about kevin gallen when we turned down the five million for gallen from man utd when he was only a junior strangely enough that could have finished our club because

if we had received that money we may not have had to sell ferdinand

and kevin after his injury just wasnt the same player

Never mind them, what about Dominic Iorfa, Garry Thompson and Devon White!

Seriously, when I started going to Rs games, Francis, Falco and Clarke were banging them in, but I think Les was the best pure striker I ever saw in a hooped shirt.

Not sure you could class Stan Bowles as an out and out striker, ill go for Devon White!
