    Default Rooney hating...

...reading some of these posts i'm completely lost.

When Rooney came to LR he was brilliant. we all agreed, there were even a number of us who claimed that he was the best visiting player last season.

but now, because the striker didn't score and because england are out he's not any good? we've got to "stop thinking he's world class" etc?

get a grip. we are not world beaters, we are not a good national team. Rooney is the best striker we have, and imo he is a lot more than just "average". had we drawn that match in the group people would be claiming that it was a good draw, a point well earnt (like v france) but because it's the knockouts we're expected to have won the game?! come on!

i dispare with the fans quicker than with the team half the time...

i think we are trying to just put accross the fact rooney is not 'world class' or anywhere near that level.....ronaldo has single handedly got an average portugese side to the semis...thats world class imho!

rooney is without doubt the only world class player england have, anyone with a bit of a footballing brain can see that! he was the best player ive seen grace our pitch in at least 20 years real class! just because he has a couple of **** games for england wont change my mind about him!

You hit the nail on the head, in a Man Utd shirt he is world class but in an England shirt, he is a 2nd class and cant be bothered.

maybe something to do with the other players around him mate, i think man utd can string at least 5 passes together and keep hold of the ball for long periods where as england cant!

I think people are disappointed and are just ranting. We went to the Euros not expecting to get anywhere. We progressed to the quarter finals and did not actually lose a match. We were the only team to lose on penalties. Had we been playing Greece or the Czech Republic, I think we would have had a better chance.

Given the time the Roy Hodgson had to prepare the team and the injuries, he did a great job.

    I bet he cant.

At the last world cup, deluded people were falling over themselves making excuses for him by saying he was no good due to playing to much football then the real reason came out and it was that he knew the story about him paying to have sex with a prostitute was coming out.

The guy is **** for England and the sooner he is dumped for younger hungrier strikers, the better and what have we done with him, so we can't exactly do any worse without him.

England national team are $hite. Can single out individuals all you like but we just arent good enough as a nation. Stumble through a poor group, scraping past Ukraine (ranked 52 in the world) and we get all excited thinking we're going to go far. Same as every tournament. Thats the result of having a side full of over paid prima donnas.

As an 18 year old at Euro 2004, when he actually ran at defenders, beat them, scored against them and basically terrified them (before breaking his metatarsal). He's never reproduced that quality in a major tournament ever since.

SOUNDS LIKE OWEN! me thinks clubs are burning out young prospects, starting them to early and pounding them with upto 50 games a season. 5 or 6 years later they are completely burnt out.

    fowler, owen, now rooney,
