  • It's pretty obvious to me...

We need to read between the lines here.

Les in on record as saying he wants to ban players tweeting about the club from next season. This came hot on the heels of Barton's latest twitter row with a Rangers legend which again caused embarrassment and disrepute to the club, and which LF was clearly angered by. This, combined with the change of ethos and philosophy the club is now introducing, to me makes it pretty obvious why Barton hasn't been offered a new deal, even in a player/coach capacity.

Make you right tbf stan. I wouldn't have minded Joey stayng on with reduced wages, personally, as he is a good player at that level, but I certainly won't be losing any sleep over it. He does bring a lot of unwante attention & is prone to the odd moment of madness. Not to mention his twitter activity which is again more unwanted attention.

Got to applaud the club in their efforts to change the approach. Still very early days, but it looks promising so far.

I really thought he was going to be offered a coaching/ player role, i still think even though he has been released from this contract he could still end up here start of next season

No way his ego would have allowed a big drop in wages. The new ethos of lowering wages will mean a lot of players will leave, many of whom we don't want to! But it is the right thing to do the club, can't go on paying that much.

Henry has also been active on Twitter with Collymore in the last month or so.. Maybe he not being offered a proper extension has something to do with the twitter rule as well

He has got the option of a year extension that it's down to him if he wants to exercise I believe?

Yeah I reckon the club would probably prefer if he didnt renew but its an option in his contract the he can choose to exercise. Takes a very single minded/stubborn whatever you call it type person to exercise that option when the club have told you they would prefer you to move on

Make you right Stanley - real line in the sand moment for Rangers in my view. Yes we could have offered Joey a new deal and there are some good footballing reasons for doing so but I think Stanley is bang on the money when he states that the club just don't wont the agro anymore of a Barton or Rio with higher profiles ( from a social media perspective ) than the club. Thoughts?

Henry has been one of our better players this season.

Only a matter of time before one of the usual suspects pipe up and claim that TF doesn't want anyone with more twitter followers than himself.

Barton doesn't fit in with the clubs new philosophy. It's time for us to be out the spotlight for a bit and rebuild in a positive way. I like Barton and think he would of done a job for us but understand the clubs decision.

As for Henry he did have one spat with collymore but that's about it. Been a model pro and gives his all. Not on massive wages and will be handy to have In The squad next year.
