Barton was signed after promotion to the Premier in season 2011/12. He signed with SWP, Ferdinand, Young and Traore near the end of the summer transfer window. Of the five, I think he was the best buy. In his first season he was sent off more then once, however he was good when he played. After a season on loan to Marseille, he returned last season in the Championship and was by far one of our best players. This season he is doing fair, however, I cannot remember how many times he lost possession and cost us goals. The coming summer will be the end of his contract. Will we offer an extension or just part company?

I think we should part Company. He is too slow for the prem,IMO. Would have liked him to stay on as a coach though..

Stay at a reduced salary, if we stay up or go down. Good motivator I'm sure but a lot of mistakes creeping in. Similar to last season but highlighted more now, as in the Prem you get punished big time.

Maybe he will play a lot better Without the captains armband? Like Jeems point out he is a good motivator. He has to reduce the numbers of mistake he is making though..

Bar Joey the other four are complete and total duds. It's a shame Anton and The People's Armand are still here.....

Before his Injury he was really high up in that Opta Stats thing.
Think he made the most completed passes out of any Midfielder after 5 games.

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
