  • Better this time round

I think there's now been one or two posts about us being no better this time in the Prem to the season we got relegated.

    But I disagree...

Firstly what I will say, is that we didn't start the season at all well. Spurs, West Ham and United (All be it away games) was pretty darn awful and that was a cause for massive concern.

HOWEVER, we have turned a corner, a huge corner. Our run of games over the last month (Including inform Newcastle) has given us all a massive lift and hope that we do actually have a squad that could keep us in the Prem.

Going forward, we now have a run of games until the end of the year that will really make it or break for us. (Home form has to be SPOT ON, like the season we stayed up.) But I honestly think, if we play like we have been then we might just be ok. Ok a point at the weekend would have been nice and actually we really wasn't far off from that. Remember that Newcastle are well in form, we defended very well by all accounts and fell at the final hurdle. (Away form does need to be sorted, draws away from home are also key.)

The reason I feel negativity on the board has crept back in is purely down to the fact we are rooted to the bottom again and that Burnley have somehow won two on the bounce... IF we win this weekend, things COULD look a whole lot better again.

    The differences are...

    1. The fact we are winning games this time round.
    2. The fact that we do have a goal scorer in Chaz (Need another in Jan however)
    3. The spirit is VERY different.
    4. The team have well and truly proved that they will fight in games!!

It was always going to be a tough season and it still will be. As I said I think the next few weeks are key, we must win at home in the '6 pointer games' and we must pick up a few points on our travels.
Its also key to remember that we probably should be a few points better off at this stage (All IFs and BUTs I guess) - Hull 1 point, Liverpool 1 Point and Chelsea 1 Point.

We arent that far off safety, so stick with them because the atmosphere is always very useful!!

    You R's!

Good post, all we need and everyone will agree we need a rub off the green. We should off beat Man City if only harry made a tactical change when we was 2-1 up, and also when was the last time we put a run off games together. If we win our next 4 home games that should see us nicely to January get a couple off new players and I am sure we will be fine, what has got on me nerves is that we have played so well since the west spam game with nothing to show for it,
    You Rsssssss

          Interesting..

I would say we defended extremely well, away from home against a team who are BANG on form.

Other than that, things may look different again after Saturday?

Lost to a cracking goal in a game that looked destined for a boring nil nil draw.

Exactly, I would take this.. I wouldn't say we was outplayed or made to look silly there.

Newcastle are very much the inform team, so taking 2 points of them would have been great.

And that cracking goal could have come from us instead of them. All those mishaps are stacking up against us. Call them bad luck or being not good enough, the definition doesn't matter at the end of the day or season.

But we will get points from other teams mishaps over the season, so not worried yet.

Im not disagreeing with you at all... You make your own luck, Charlie is at the moment but didnt at the start of the season when we lost to Hull.

Take two points of them and add a point to us and actually Hull look in pretty bad condition.

My point would be, our run of games from now until the end of the year is very important. The table and survival outlook alone could look very different after this weekends game alone.

I think its hard to truly say if we have turned a corner or if we do have a chance until we've played our next 6-8 games.

In order to stand a good chance of staying up is beating the teams around us, if we fail to do this then it will be twice as hard.

And of course the previous away game where we deserved the point but got shafted by the scum. Our last 2 away have been against the two most in form teams and we matched both in a lot of ways - recall being told that Costa and his mates were going to tear us a new hole

Sugarcoat it as much as you like. The fact is after 12 games we are the worst team in that league and are bottom. Every team will say we should have had points here or if this had happened etc then we would be better off. Table does not lie though.

Performance wise we have been so much better over the last 5 or so games but that means nothing if you don't turn it into points. When we are out of the bottom 3 and we have more points than at least 3 teams below us then yes it will be better this time around.

Am not usually so negative but i got splashed by a truck and it messed up my hair.

                              Agreed.

When you're bottom of the league you can only look at things in of two ways.

                              1. Are we good enough and competing
                              2. Will we get points.

My answers are, yes we are to number one and yes to number two as we will get points.
