  • Where does today's result show us

We are deep in the S##t. Firstly I have never been a fan of Redknapp and have real concern with his abilities and indeed his constant laying of the blame on everyone but himself. I just watched his press conference after yesterday's game and he actually said Vargas was an unknown quantity, this after saying how he had watched him for two years in a previous press conference!

Whilst many fans are questioning him even staying as manager Fernandes is wanting to give him a new contract. As I said on previous threads we have played five games and conceded 11 goals, three of which have been played at home against three of the weaker sides in the division. It is fairly well recognized you need to achieve a point a game to avoid relegation and we havn't, even with the the easier fixtures. Whilst it would have been nice to have got the result we deserved against Hull it is a bit to early to worry about our current points total.

Our biggest concern is the team shape and the apparent lack of any coaching or game plan. We have so far in those five games played 3-5-2, 4-3-3, 4-4-2 and yesterday a diamond in midfield. This despite all our pre-season dedicated to 3-5-2 including our recruitment policy. We don't seem to have an agreed formation or tactics and look like a load of strangers. I watched the bench yesterday and with 10 minutes to go and loosing at home in a winnable game there was no instruction at all coming from our coaches. The only instruction appeared to come from Hitchcock, the keeper coach, and that was to Fer with 5 minutes left!

Having watched and coached football for near on 35 years I really struggle to see what we are trying to achieve as a team? We created almost nothing yesterday, or indeed in the last three games in open play, and got out of jail yesterday by two set pieces.

Not one for constantly changing managers but said it last year whatever the result of the play offs Redknapp should have gone. We were lucky in the end to get promotion and might not find it easy if we suffer relagarion again. There is no way Fernandes will sack Redknapp as to be honest he is absolutely clueless when it comes to football, and has no one around him to advise him so believes all the media hype that surrounds Redknapp. Yes he has been a manager for a long time but his record is pretty poor with one decent trophy in God knows how many years and I dread to think how much money he has spent in that time.

Fact is he will stay but he needs to be told to decide on a formation and stick with it. Like it or not it has to be 3-5-2 as our whole recruitment policy (albeit poor) has been based on that formation. He, Hoddle, bond, Jordan etc have to get them out on the training pitch, not for a couple of hours, but for as long as it takes to get them to understand how to play the system, it's what they are paid for.

As much as I don't want to agree with this I'm afraid a lot of it makes sense and shows that we are tactically miles behind other teams in this division. I don't really want to get rid of Harry because I want stability but he is not filling me with confidence.

Like you say I cannot seem to understand what our game plan is exactly, it seems to be all over the place. No proper strategy which you have to have to compete at this level.

If Harry doesn't do the coaching of the team how does he directly influence what the team does and get them to follow what he wants them to do.

I know it's early doors and maybe a bit premature but we are starting to look a bit like we did with Hughes. A mixture of decent players on paper but not really a solid team unit.

As I have said on other threads, we are currently one of the three worst teams in the league.

This can only be coached out of us until January and, even then, I don't think throwing money at the problem is the correct way to go, we've tried it before and it failed.

We need for someone at the club to work out, coach and play a balanced and organised team, I don't care what the formation is. Until this happens, we are heading back from whence we came.

Thanks....It's quicker than reading War and Peace on WATRB. Maybe we'll get the highlights later, like MOTD2.

Shame you still seem to be on the WUM. Not surprising, just a shame.

                      Before what?
Gets far too serious on here with all this in depth analysis malarky....just trying to lighten the mood with a bit of humorous fun. Appears that is not allowed now without condemnation and being accused of WUM.
                      Anyway, buy what you like.

Good, but think you might be breaking the rules.
Rule No. 16 states, and I quote......"When blocking members do not broadcast it, block someone if you don't wish to see them and leave it at that."

                            Answer to the original question....

1st 5 games of a season with new players is what we'll give a manager before sacking

1st 5 games decides what will happen for the rest of the season... god its going to be hard being in a relegation battle with UTD and Everton

Leicester are the bench mark team (can someone please put up the rest of their fixtures so I can keep up, cheers)

......Also learnt this weekend that players only have a couple of games to prove themselves before being dropped
                            SIR LESLIE FERDINAND!!
