  • What's in your Loft? - QPR Memorabilia event

We have been asked to pass on the following message from QPR in the Community Trust and the Octavia Foundation.

Hopefully some of you guys can help out with this:

    Dear QPR Fans groups!

The QPR in the Community Trust and the Octavia Foundation have teamed up to deliver the Story of QPR – a multimedia heritage and volunteering project, documenting the history of the club and the surrounding area.

We are currently planning an event to take place at Loftus Road Stadium in October, which will be an opportunity for fans and local people to come together, share memories and celebrate what the club means to them. Andy Rees, Customer Services Officer at QPR has given me your details, as he felt that you might be able to support with this please.

As part of the event, we will be curating a small exhibition of QPR related memorabilia objects and photographs from the club’s inception to the present day, and we are hoping to get in touch with people who might have relevant items that they are willing to loan to us for the duration of the event (or be willing to let us photograph in advance, if they are too precious to be displayed).

There are three key themes to the exhibition, which are:

    Lucky Charms
Do you have any handmade mascots? A hat you wear/wore to every match? A flag or
banner you can’t be seen without? Any customised items?

    W12 Heritage
Any documentation about the local area? Evidence of cultural change around White
City and Shepherds Bush? Items or photographs that encapsulate the community of W12?

    HOOPS History
Highlights of key events throughout QPR’s history.
Special programmes from famous matches? Signed items? Personal photos?

We are after special objects that will bring the heritage of QPR and W12 alive – items with personal significance, items which are one-offs, items which illustrate how much the world of football has changed, and also how much of the culture is passed down through the generations, items which show the global reach of the club, and how much a part of the local community it remains.

We are therefore calling in the experts – you all – to support with this please if you are able.

If you, or any fans you know have such items, we would love to hear from them please. Of course it makes things easier if they are London based, but if not, we will see what we can do…..

Many thanks for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

    Kindest regards,

    Emily Williams

          Hello all,
Just wanted to introduce myself - my name is Emily, and I am working on the memorabilia event and archive for the Story of QPR project. If you do have any photos or items which you think might make a good addition to the exhibition, please do let me know. I can be contacted on here, or via any of the contact details in the original post. We're really after images and objects which illustrate evocative, personal stories and memories about the club and the area as a whole. They don't necesasarily have to be connected to famous events in the club's history (although we need those too!).
Looking forward to chatting to you.
          Best,
          Emily

Bushman on the warnock report has a whole load of stuff. if he is anything like mcmoish then i doubt he would share it with the club.

worth a try in asking though stan

I have a pair of Rowan Vines boots I won on here a few years ago
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

Ron Hill would be a good person to contact. He has loads of Rangers things.

I have a few bits and bobs.

                  Hi all,
Thanks for the suggestions! I have been in touch with Bushman, and will try to get in touch with Ron Hill (is he a member of this forum?).
Hertford Hoop - Many thanks, although I feel that Rowan Vine's boots might be a bit too recent......however, if they commemorate a particular occasion (i.e. - are embroidered with a date or something similar) it would be interesting to find out more.

Got a (now deflated) match ball signed by the whole 2000-01 squad from Gery Francis (old dear is close pals with his sister), plus Chris Kiwomya's signed shirt from when I sponsored him for the, I think it was, 1998-99 season. Other than that just plenty of suitcases, old blazers, invoices and TV remotes.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
