  • Big project -

If harry adds the six he wants thats 8 players this summer and a much bigger project then I think a lot expected. Been saying for weeks we need 8 - 10 players. 1 for depth and 2 for much needed quality.
Have found it pretty amusing reading that people think we only need 2 or 3 extra players or even that amount after caulker and ferdinand have been added. I mean midfield scares the **** out of me. We lack creativity, mobillity and awareness. Hoilett is clueless, we got faurlin who I rate but we dont know about his injury yet, phillips is good but where does he fit in with a 3 5 2 formation, granero seems to be off and we have no no 10.
Massive work to be done in this area.
Fer would be nice, plus another cm who can pass/dictate a game and also a number 10 who has that flare and ability to change a game. If we dont recruit well in these positions, we will struggle massively imo.
Our strikers need more supply, charlie will score with decent players behind him. I also think we need much needed pace up front. I worry about this 3 5 2 formation. I think our squad at present is more suited to 4 2 3 1 or 4 3 3.
My main point is I think a lot of people need to open thier eyes at what we need this summer, 3 or 4 extra players just wont cut it. Especially the ones who think we need just 1 more cm...........

I can't recall anyone on here saying we only need one more CM. Who said that?
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Someone....cant remember who and aint going to go through every bloody thread fella to pick it because you think im nit picking. I seen enough threads which suggest we only need 1 or 2 additions as dont want to disrupt the team harmony ect...

Agreed! Last season we used a lot of loans, therefore hiding the fact of our real squad. These need to be replaced and as we're now back in the 'big time', I fully expected this to happen. I don't mean offering silly money etc but, good solid signings to make our squad competitive.

Harry knows what we need judging by his comments but TF is worrying me badly. The man and other owners have been a godsend and I appreciate what they've done and are now doing in terms of not being held to ransom, however, we need quality additions. I've named players in other threads who are very realistic and would add to our squad hugely, which proves the quality bodies we need can be added to the squad without spending silly money.

I think a number 10, Valbuena for example would be a marquee signing and of course wouldn't come cheap wage wise, but quality players in this position rarely do, so he's the exception. A couple of loans could do a job, just look how well Everton use the loan market.

I think this is the window where we can add quality to our squad and then simply 'top up' in future windows as our base squad will be more than competitive. If we only add 2 or 3 as TF says, I think we'll be bang in trouble come January and that's exactly when panic buying comes into the equation and is normally a sign of a disaster. The less business done in January, the better, that's why it's important to get the business done now.

I said we need- at a minimum- one CM and one striker. We need more. As Harry has said. But without those two minimum we are probably f acked.

Definitely need two strikers I think. Three strikers didn't do the job last time were in the PL.

I agree that we need more players. I think we'll get there with permanent signings and loans.

Some excellent posts trouble is may have already waited too long. Pre season should be used for team to gel, we have some very winnable early games but Fernandes hanging around May cost us those early wins we so desperately need.

It's a bit harsh pinning the blame on the chairman. He's set a budget which means some signings may be difficult to get over the line. I'm sure we could've got loads of players signed up but at hideous costs, which I'm sure none of us want to do.

Besides, not too many transfers get done so early and why we have the TV spectacle of transfer deadline day. It's easier to sign players quickly if you're Man Utd or Arsenal, not so easy for our sort.

My fear is the closer we get to the season if were still short we will go and get people like STC & BAE to pad the squad out

How many other chairman do you see at any club let alone a premier one, continually tweeting about transfers it's very unprofessional. He seems to want to pander to the fans who to be honest are in most cases the least informed of all. We have a small squad so whilst others may not be signing loads they are already miles ahead of us, even Burnley and Leicester. We are also trying to play a new system which players need time to adjust too, so we need to give any new players time, we are 3 weeks away from our first game!

If he doesn't want to spend his money fair enough after all it's his to do as he wants but don't come out and keep saying lesson have been learned. The problem last time wasn't anything to do with numbers but the quality and type of players we brought in.

Exactly west we are messing about with the likely result being we will be left with the rubbish, we aren't exactly the most sought after club so negotiate hard but suffer the consequences.

Gold does it and even goes over his managers head and mugs him off by singing players he doesnt want. People need to stop moaning about one of the best chairman in the world imo.
