    Leighsie's post got me thinking

Does this Dutch courage reputation still date back to our historic siege mentality as an island, having to fight back its foreign marauders?

Or are we out-drunk now by other countries?

i was in cyprus in july and met this hammered norwegian couple. they was smashed beyond and back. Then they say it so cheap here as they pay 18 euros a pint back home.

i think the scots are actually the heaviest drinkers in europe which i can believe tbh. i go to glasgow a few times a year to visit the missus' family and there are junkies and drunk people everywhere, i even saw a trio of deaf junkies just signing to eachother whilst drinking a 2l bottle of strongbow

Probably most of that was tax, as they're incredibly high in Scandinavia. I'm sure Shania can confirm.

Surprising. We must have really dropped down in recent years. I'm sure we never used to be that low.

Interesting because I saw a list recently where Norway was first and Estonia was second,
I guess they used a different calculation method or were too drunk to get it right.
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:

How and why did I start supporting QPR in Estonia:

Scotland would be right up there in that list if the UK wasn’t measured as a whole. And England would be even lower.

Ireland would be a lot higher if only the drinkers were included, there’s a very high percentage of “pioneers”, people who don’t touch it for religious reasons.
The rest of them more than make up for it though...
