He got it right. Was going to make a double sub early second half but that triggered our best spell, which lasted the rest of the game. No luck today though and a fair result.

      • Bad day at the office, but at least we took a point. Only grumble is that I wish we'd brought some subs on sooner. Chair looked lively when he came on.

On the stream it looked like he was about to sub on Chair and Smith, but just as they started warming up we switched the momentum and went on the attack

                • Considering the size of our squad and the number of important players missing for one reason or the other, it is not a bad point. Maybe, SM should have made the changes earlier. Leistner unlucky with two efforts that hit the crossbar. But we're doing fine. Maybe at home, will try Smith with Wells upfront. Nacki is too isolated.

                  • Every team has a bad day at the office. The key is not to lose points when that happens. I'm not at all unhappy with that today.

                    • That Derby win puts us 4 points outside the play offs but agree with sentiments on here, 10 points from possible 12 is good going despite today's draw.

                      • That was really disappointing but at same time we still took a point and clean sheet away

Reading clearly better side without clement but they were toothless up top. We have a good starting eleven but are short when you need to dig below. Not a playoff off side on that effort

Not criticised Macca thus far but way to slow on subs. It was obvious from first half changes were needed but he never made them. Certainly could have been more proactive from the bench

                            This.

It's been a fantastic Xmas period.
The boys are allowed a few bad games but to walk away without being beaten, along with another clean sheet makes Xmas a great month for us.

People need to forget a out the playoffs. Top 10 is more realistic and we are well above that bar.

                            • “It was a great response after a passive first half,” McClaren told www.qpr.co.uk.

“But the boys in the second half were immense – the endeavour they showed, the commitment, the drive, the aggression.

“We should have won the game in the second half so we’re a bit frustrated with that.”

Mass Luongo was unavailable for the fixture due to representing Australia in the Asia Cup and McClaren admitted it took his team time to deal with the midfielder’s absence.

“It took us a while to adjust to the changes we made with Luongo being away, but once we did that we pressed, we caused them problems and but for a great save and the crossbar we’d have won the game,” he explained.

“But the lads keep surprising me, they keep coming back, they keep going.

“Just when you think they look down and like we’re going to crack, we get back up and go again. That relentlessness is what we need to keep as that spirit can take you a long way.”

On New Year’s Day Rangers will play their fourth game in ten days when they make the trip to Aston Villa, and McClaren added: “We look forward to it. We’ll need the squad; we’ve only got two days to recover but we’ll go again.”
