I remember drinking in the General Smuts time to time in the eighties.

About 5 yrs ago I watched an old replay of a Minder from the 80's - it had footage from inside Smuts - the funny thing was that the decor was the same and hadn't changed!!

I used to drink in the Target and then up th the Springbok and it was rammed in those days. Then went off with my good mates Steve 'Sniffer' Edwards and Doug Soar, both now passed on sadly, to the Crown and Sceptre as Steve had to have his 'Pride' and stayed there until they gastroed it.
                            RIP: Doug, Sniffer and Pat

I used to drink in the Smuts with my Dad, used to be some VERY dodgy geezers in there, nothing to do with football, just off the estate.

My Dad used to work in Hythe Road off Scrubs Lane, they often saw bits of Minder being filmed.
