  • 92 Points and Hello..

Firstly well done to all the guys for setting this new forum up. This is the first time I've been on and it looks very good indeed.

Secondly, the point of this thread...

They (whoever they are) say you should win your home matches and draw your away matches. 23 home wins plus 23 away draws would equal 92 points hence the title and would guarantee automatic promotion in this league. Not that anyone goes the entire season at this level unbeaten but it is obviously possible to turn some of those results into wins as well as losses. So how have we done at getting 4 points (3 for a win plus 1 for draw) off each team?

Of the 23 league opposition we've played 17 teams both home and away. Unless we beat either Preston or Wolves we will have failed to do the double over any team this season. We only managed to do it once last season but that was only against Charlton so didn't really count

7 of the 17 teams we've managed to pick up a win and a draw
5 of the 17 teams we've managed to beat and lose to
3 of the 17 teams we've managed to draw and lose to
1 of the 17 teams we've drawn twice to
1 of the 17 teams we've lost twice to

If we beat Plymouth and Palace we will have taken 4 points off both teams. If we draw to Wolves and Preston we will have taken 4 points off both teams. If we beat Burnley and Sheff Wed we will have taken just 3 points off both teams.

Although there is an opportunity for us to take more than 4 points off two teams the best we can achieve this season is to have taken 4 points off 11 teams. In comparison Wolves have taken 4 points off 5 teams and 6 points off 5 teams already this season with the possibility of taking 4 points off another 5 teams and have already won 23 matches this season.

Long and short of it is that except in a couple of games against Watford & Sheff Utd away and Ipswich at home we've been so close to changing losses into draws and draws into wins. Something which Wolves have managed to achieve this season and are benefitting as a result.

          Hullo sir pie chucker!
          Yes, two strikers would've
          turned those draws into wins
I hope we start well next year
and the fixtures don't come to
a grinding halt just because England plays
I mean, whoever planned the fixtures had
          to be born premature.
