  • Where does Championship fit in now?

This latest iteration of Project Restart is 92 games commencing on 17th and from 20th there'll be games EVERY day for best part of 6 weeks. It appears every game will be on telly with about a quarter on free to air platforms. Basically, non-stop premier League for 6 weeks.
Even if Championship does commence, virtually every game will have to compete with the prem's TV extravaganza. I cannot see how the Championship can make enough money from amateurish live streams of its games to cover the costs of C-19 testing and quaranting players/staff etc and sorting out some sort of deal for ST holders..... It doesn't stack up to me.

Then who do you promote and relegate.

Get the games played at the training grounds if needed, but get them played.

Championship does not have the resources and finances to play out the remaining games in time to fall in with the accelerated Premier League schedule. They will be kicking off 20/21 season at end of August. If EFL don't get going in next 3 weeks it ain't gonna finish in time. If remaining games are somehow played and we end up winning playoff final in late July or early August how the hell do we overhaul our squad, have a rest and have a preseason in the space of just 3 weeks?? The only way to give promoted teams any sort of chance of preparing for the prem is to name them in the next couple of weeks.
Logistics aside, it's all moot - no way on earth are 3 Prem teams accepting a relegation this season so nobody is going up.

Try tell those in the top six theres no promotion thus season. The fact that the prem is scheduled to start suggests there will be relegation. The EFL can start 20/21 in Oct if needed. The cup competitions will likely be cancelled.

But who knows for sure? Time will tell......

Looking forward to seeing the TV viewing options.

Cant understand Hoo's option that three weeks isn't enough time to get them match fit. Surely they have been doing their own schedules over the last two months.

Final shop window for those looking to leave and I hope they play well in the good weather.

Im with you not like were asking unfit 50 year olds to get match fit, Personally id rather this season get finished than abandon and start when safe to do so for all. Most teams will only play the season out 9 games. if in play offs do at neutral ground 1 leg and a final. Not finishing will leave massive legal wrangles anyway. Get on with it Hoos like rest of the country.

Agree with hoo’s & should’ve consulted clubs like prem did, it’s not the fact of getting players fit, virus is still with us & people still dying

But what's the difference with the premier league, exact same risk for everyone.
if the alternative is to wait for a vaccine or wait for the virus to go away then we will have no football for the next 12 .months

His statement was twofold - lack of engagement and he is not in favour of the start date because of getting players match for in only three weeks.

                              Hoo's opinion is:

"The players haven't even returned to full-contact training at this moment and yet they are now expected to be in a position to play at a competitive level in just three weeks' time," Hoos said.
