  • Ryan Manning’s Potential

I thought Ryan looked good all pre seasons at left back and now the season has started I feel like this is his best position and I think
he will nail this down to be his left back slot

I had a gut feeling that he would never break into centre midfield with the options we had, he was just down the pecking list and Inevitably would leave at some point

Im not saying he’s brilliant at left back because he’s got a lot to learn, against Huddersfield he struggled to deal with Huddersfield’s pace on a couple of occasions. However he is only 2 months into the left back role and at the rate of his performances I think his potential is enormous. On top of all of that his dead ball crossing into the box from open play is a huge assets, his corners are really excellent, he’s a usually reliable penalty taker as we saw against Bristol and his loan days at Rotherham

Im really excited to see his growth in the left back slot and I believe he’s like an expensive signing we didn’t have to make because he was already ours. Congratulations Ryan and Warburton. I’m excited to see him develop at left back into one of the leagues most valuable left backs

side note. Whilst talking about potential, Chair is going
    to be some player!
    Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
    And many more mistakes

Good at left back but I'm going to say quietly that should we get a specialist LB in, then Manning would be the perfect replacement for Scowen in that advanced role.

Leave Manning where he is not quick enough to play where scowen is

Manning is not a left back, but he is working on it and I think getting better as a player by doing so.

His crossing is also improving. He knows he has stiff competition for the midfield positions so perhaps feels lb is a viable alternative.

Thats kind of my point, we’ve found a gem of a player in Manning at left back

Dimond in the rough if you like

Ryan Manning has created more goalscoring chances than any other #QPR player this season (12).

Manning has also attempted more crosses than any other Championship player in all competitions in 2019-20 (33).

Didn't rate him against Huddersfield, but to be fair LB isn't his position. You have to start Wallace over Manning, we need to see him play.

I just don't agree with that, but forums are all about opinions I guess

I'm always happy to be proved wrong about a player, as long as it's about them being better than I thought!

Manning will be better than Bidwell, but Bidwell was limited, so not a great benchmark. I still think we definitely need to see Wallace play.

Indeed, it's all about different points of view. That's why I come here, I don't want to be in an echo chamber.

Fantastic assist today, he has a lot to learn defensively but 2 months into the new role, he’s done well

Little gem is Manning at left back

Been our most consistently decent player this season I'd say. Good for him. Having him as an attacking FB is a great asset for the team as he has such good delivery, a lot better than most FB's.
