  • Less from Les

    https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/how-...t-qpr-millions

Emotional attachments aside, at what point do we ask ourselves the obvious question: Why does Les Ferdinand continue as our Director of Football?

He has done little to earn praise, but tons to deserve criticism for his management of the football side of QPR for the past 5+ seasons. Put it this way, if we were to interview candidates to head up this side of the QPR management team, and based the decision on proven merit, would Les even make it past the first round? Yes, he was a QPR legend. Yes, he seems to be a nice guy with sound character. But the record shows he has been in the driver's seat for one of the worst, most shambolic runs in QPR history.

If we are pushing reset buttons on the manager and the players, why is it that Les escapes a similar change?

    Les OUT
    Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
    And many more mistakes

Now getting boring, I don’t know, and you don’t know what he does, maybe a lot, maybe not so much, the powers to be are happy with him and pay his wages, you don’t so why the obsession with him

Given what he inherited and how much the wage bill has gone down, that enough warrants his existence for a good few years yet.

Given the massive cuts to the playing staff and wage bill, it could be argued that staying in the championship the past couple of seasons is relative success. It's not exactly the type of success that we all craved a few seasons ago, but expectations have clearly shifted in the past few years...

Trying to shift players on.big contracts, unsettled squad, reduced the wage bill whilst maintaining championship football. I suspect there are other at the club who need pointing out ahead of les

Most of that wage cutting was done by players running down their contracts and not much to do with Les' great work. Did he sell and get a half decent fee for the likes of SWP, Cesar, Sandro, Hoilett etc?

He has negotiated cheaper wage deals for many of the newer signings, but sadly the quality is also heading downward.

and is that down to Les' coaching & management skills?

Seems he is not entitled to any credit whatever he does in some people's eyes.
