There is no question that when QPR is battling with pace and urgency our defense is better, our offense is better, and our results are better. What more evidence does SMC need to utilize this reality? Unfortunately, we too often start slow, sit back, and when we fall behind -- and usually too late -- the manager sends in reinforcements and a new strategy. Start the first 10 minutes v Bolton like our lives depended on it -- fast, pressing, and urgent. If not, the fault must be shouldered by a coach who's too keen on "keeping our shape" and too light on "going for it".

Of course it's called defending from the front you press them into a defensive role you take pressure off your defenders , only snag is you leave yourself open to the counter attack early on ,
but me I for one would rather see us lose having a go than lose trying to play cat and mouse football when in all honesty we haven't got good enough played to

This is clearly SMC's managerial style, as is floundering in the tail end of seasons. Next year we will see a number of players gone, but if SMC continues to play this same system why do we believe it will yield different results?

It’s understandable he’d want to try and keep it tight when our main holding midfielder is out.
There aren’t many managers in this league who take risks so imo a bit unfair to say it’s a fault, more the default setting of most managers.
You can only work with what you have and aside from Freeman, we have very little.

I’d add that playing with urgency and pace requires mental and physical stamina. We clearly lack that in certain areas which is probably why, as has been pointed out in another thread, when players are dropped for a few games, they come back much stronger, only to fade again after a run of games. Scowen and Freeman being a prime example.

The Derby team that we played in the play off final was known that season for its attacking, energy and good passing and moving. We beat them but I think most would agree we rode our luck a little in that game and they probably would have felt quite hard done by to not have gone up that year. Think we need to give him a bit more time to sort this team out and get them playing with energy from start to finish. Takes a certain kind of player to play like that for a whole 90 minutes, maybe we just don't have enough of them

Steve Mc wanted to play a different way but didn't have the players to do so. We adapted with what we have so maybe now he can bring in some players (within a budget) we might start to see some proper changes.
