  • Opponents playing the pressing game

When our opponents plays the pressing game - then we have big problems, when they don’t, we look quite good (Watford didnt but, for example, Reading and Bristol C, in the second half, did). When we’re having players like Furlong, Cousins, Scowen and Lynch in the team we can’t keep the possesion and the opponents get’s us deeper and deeper. If we can learn/play the players who are comfortable with the ball and master the opponents pressning game we will win a lot more games.

I agree but we also look much better when we press.

Yes we do, and probably that is the best tactic to ”avoid” opponents pressing us.

Again I agree, however, we can't do this for a full 90 minutes. It's too much for them, maybe it's a work in progress?

The best way to beat the press is to pass and move quickly.

It means running non stop for 90 minutes, we don't have that staminer yet, it's improved so much though. I do think that's the aim long term.

No it means the ball gets moved quickly and players are in space to receive a pass from a team mate. If we play at snails pace then we will always be in trouble when pressed.

To get in space you need to be constantly moving.

All about starting positions MYU not the distance you run.

That’s also the case, together with that you have to have the ability to see where the teammates are and have the technique to perform a pass. I believe it’s more about ability and tactics than stamina.

Have to press as a unit too, otherwise you definitely will be wasting your time and energy.

Problem with the pressing game is you only need one or two not doing it and it buggers you up, all players should press and close down but obviously its difficult to do a whole match, fitness playing a huge part, but pressing together as a unit and sitting as a units well drilleds the key, but as a player you should always make yourself available to whoevers got the ball and not be static.

All about intelligence. The best players have better brains otherwise all players can do it. Not saying we are thick as @rseholes

With cameron out, we have to press for as long as possibly can. We have substitutes and have to use them when needed. Ideally, a player like Manning suits such a way of playing, imo.
